Leadership retreats

What does it mean to lead your One Wild Life?

Perhaps you are asking yourself:

  • What is my next move, in my career and in my personal life.
  • What is my purpose? What really matters to me in my life right now?
  • What are my priorities?
  • How do I know and honour my life’s callings?
  • How can I create more meaning in my life?

Wild Edge Retreats uses a life design process to help you get clear on the big picture view of your life. You’ll use tools developed from design thinking, the creative process, the science of yoga and meditation, and narrative storytelling to help you:

  • Clarify your values
  • Create a vision for each area of your life (relationship, work, spirit/ soul, mental and physical wellbeing, and community/ service)
  • Develop clear, actionable steps in each of the areas.
  • Have time and space to reflect, be in nature, ask deep questions of your life, listen to your intuition.

Come away with clearer direction, plans to put into action and a bigger picture view of your life. Come away feeling refreshed and energised.

The process

In advance: Before each retreat, we’ll have a call to see if we are a good match for working with each other. We’ll chat about what kind of support you are seeking and what you’d like to gain from the retreat and any other questions you might have.

You’ll also be sent, by post, some preliminary reflection exercises to get you started and set up for your retreat, so before you even leave your home your retreat will have started! Consider your journey here like a pilgrimage. In your retreat pack you’ll have a journalling practice to savour along the way with some guide questions and some inspirational starting pointers.

The date of your arrival:  You will be met in Schull on your arrival and settled into your private room in Grove House. We’ll meet to check in with your intentions, orientate you to the village and open your retreat process.

Each day of your retreat…

Early morning: You may want to start the day with a stroll along Schull’s foreshore, or do a yoga session in beautiful Grove House, or spend some time solo-journalling.

Morning Mentoring Sessions: Every morning, after a yummy breakfast, we will meet for two hours- diving into the life design process. From values identification to mapping your next steps in your life and business- each session is tailored to your needs.

During the day: you’ll have time to explore, reflect, and write. Whenever you need a break or an added boost of inspiration you’re only minutes from the shore to breathe in the wild atlantic fresh air- it works wonders… and you never know, you may even be tempted to literally dive into the waters. Then there is always Anna’s bookshop for some inspiration or a visit to the wonderful little Schull library. You could also choose to travel out of Schull, to the many beautiful parts of the Mizen peninsula.

Evening Sessions:  For an hour and a half at the end of the day, we’ll pick a time to meet again – either before or after dinner, and we’ll review your reflections that day. There may be another design thinking practice, or some additional mentoring. You may even choose to do a private one to one yoga session with Clare.

Dinner:  Dinner is provided even evening in Grove House.

But it doesn’t end there…  After the retreat it is important to maintain momentum, that’s why a follow up mentoring package is included in the price. You can avail of an one hour follow up mentoring sessions with Clare to help you keep on track with your actions. That’s over 8 hours in total of one to one private mentoring time with Clare.

Why Schull:

welcomeIn Clare’s words…“I arrived in Schull, listening to a calling. It was the land, the space, the energy to sink deep into my own wisdom and hear nature in her glorious abundance. I had a sense that there was something I was to create here; something I was to birth. For 18 months I walked the shoreline everyday. I climbed hills and plunged into the Atlantic waters. The place was telling me it was time to write. So for six months, I wrote, fast and deep and wildly. It was mysterious, it was magical and the result is my own memoir which I’m now fine tuning to get out to publishers.

Then, one day, while visiting a wild spot, right on the edge, a huge sensation arose through me which said: Gather the leaders, the changemakers, the trailblazers. Gather the story-tellers, the dreamers, the wisdom-holders. Gather the healers and the shapers. Gather those who can change the way we tell the story of the world.

And so it is the Wild Edge Retreats has been born: as a place to tell the stories the world needs to hear. A place to lean into the edges of our own conversation so our story and purpose can find its place in the world”

Our Schull Venue

The moment you walk into Grove House you can the creative legacy of the place. George Bernard Shaw once stayed here (and signed the guest book with a poem in 1914). Jack B. Yeats was another visitor. Books and art work line the walls. With open fires, cozy chairs, and a view over Schull harbour, it has the safe and  open feeling of a well loved home yet all the elegance of a grand house. JJ and Lily, the resident dogs, walk the grounds; the kettle is on the go; the large open conservatory offers pockets of light filled peace. It’s relaxed, friendly and always inviting…

Katarina Runske, owner and resident chef of Grove House restaurant will be serving evening dinners from locally sourced produce (West Cork has some of the finest vegetables, artisan cheeses and, being a fishing village, daily local catch).

The house is intimate, which is perfect for retreats.

On some nights the restaurant may be open, but we’ll always have our own private living room for  mentoring workshops.

Currently taking bookings for solo retreats. Writing retreats also available.

Retreat availability depends on room availability in Grove House- so the earlier you can book in the better. Dates from April to October 2018 available.

Contact Clare to let her know what dates you are hoping to come on retreat. She will then contact Grove House to check if there is room availability for those dates. If yes, she’ll book in the dates and get back to you asap, if not, she will provide you with a list of other date options, or if those are the only dates you are available there are alternative B&B accommodation in the area.

Once dates are agreed, a €500 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place. The balance in full is required one month before the retreat date.
