Writing Mentoring
Support to help you get started & keep going
Your words matter.
Getting starting, and keeping going with any writing project is challenging. It can be hard to make time, sort through ideas, build a writing rhythm. And it can be equally demanding to learn the discipline and craft of structuring narrative writing, both at the idea stage, and in at the editing stage. Keeping your confidence and the ‘why’ of the project going throughout an often messy process is critical to success.
Bring your writing project to life
If you have an idea or are currently working on a fiction or non-fiction writing project (book/ blog or web series/ essays/ short stories) writing coaching and mentoring packages are here to support you. I can help by:
Supporting you with mapping initial ideas using a range of creative ideation, brainstorming and visioning tools.
Crafting and refining the core messages or themes of the work.
Offering guidance and feedback on shaping the structure and narrative.
Creating an accountability partnership and on-going ‘check-in’ support.
Offering writing prompts and creative thinking tools.
Working with inner obstacles, limiting beliefs and motivation.
Keeping the ‘why’ and spirit of the project to the forefront of the creative process.
(Please note that I do not currently take on poetry, playwriting or screenwriting projects as they are outside the bounds of my mentoring experience).

From one-off sessions to a year long process, mentoring can support each stage from idea to completion.
One off mentoring sessions are great for initial idea mapping and establishing a starting structure for the work. I will read up to 3000 words in advance, take notes, and then follow up with our 2 hour call.
Three Month Intensives are great for focused sprints. 6 sessions over 3 months, reading up to 40,000 words.
Year Long Mentoring is great for bringing longer projects from conception to completion. 12 sessions over 12 months. Reading up to 80,000 words.

How it works
All sessions take place online. You have the option of having the session recorded.
You book and pay for your one-off session in advance. Sessions are non-refundable. Schedule your session via my online booking system. Payment plans are available for longer mentoring programmes.
If you need to reschedule your booking, you can do so- but I’ll need at least 24 hours notice.
When you book a one off workshop, fill in a brief questionnaire to tell me a little more about your wish for the session, and your project or preliminary ideas.
Your one off workshop includes me reading up to 3,000 words in advance of the call. I will need to receive these at least three days prior to the session in order for me to have time to review.
Your on-going sessions includes me reading up to 6,000 words per session in advance, with notes.
Sessions work best when accessed in a private, quiet space, and from a desktop or laptop rather than a phone or tablet. In fact, it is best when your phone is off too- that way there are less distractions.
Bring along a notebook, some coloured pens and some sticky notes if you have them. They often come in handy.
For on-going mentoring arrangements, you will be required to fill in a contract of agreement.
